School Choice will close on Friday, June 7th, 2024. This is a hard deadline and will end on June 7th, no exceptions. Please contact the school office for any questions.

Due to volatile enrollment numbers, there are currently no restrictions on accepting applications from specific schools and/or grade levels. Once enrollment numbers are finalized, applications will be accepted as space is available.

What is School Choice?

If you would like for your child to attend a school that is outside the attendance area in which you live, you must complete an online school choice request.

SDOC School Choice Policy
  • The SDOC School Board has adopted the following policy governing the school choice process: Policy JFB School Choice.

You can view the school choice board policy by clicking here.

    • Students on school choice must submit an application each year.
    • The completed online request is due to the choice school on or before June 7th, 2023.
    • Only students that reside in Oconee County are eligible for school choice.
    • Transportation to a "choice school" is the responsibility of the parent/guardian (no bus service will be provided).
    • Principals will consider behavior, attendance, and grades before approving applications.
    • If more applications are received than the number of spaces available at any school, a lottery system will be used to fill spaces.

School Choice for the 2024-2025 school year opens on Friday, March 1st and will remain open until Friday, June 7th. Approval notifications will be emailed to the email address provided in the application on or before July 1st.

If you are unable to complete the online request, please contact the school office to obtain a paper copy to complete and return to the school that you are requesting.

School choice forms are required annually even if your child is currently on school choice.
